Starbucks in Shibuya

One of the amazing things i saw when i was living in Tokyo was the crowds of people who always seemed to be crossing the road at Shibuya. There just seemed to be thousands of them. It always seemed that the young people were meeting their friends there. There is a statue of a dog in front of Shibuya (the name escapes me at this time) but it is a well known meeting place in front of the station. When you arrive at Shibuya JR station there are people milling about. Sometimes i wonder how you will be able to find your friend in the mass.
So anyway across the road is a record store and cinema. Starbucks are on the ground and first floor. After you've got your cafe latte you make you way upstairs. From there you get a wonderful view of the crossing. All you can see is just a mass of people waiting to cross.
Interestingly, there are tunnels underneath the crossing but most people don't seem to use them. When you take a tunnel from the station across the street you see some of the shops which are underground as well. It always used to strike me what it must be like if you arrived at work early in the morning while it was still dark and left late in the evening when it was dark. You would never see the sun. If it's raining all you see is a mass of umbrellas on either side of the road waiting for the green light and as soon as the light changes they rush towards each other at the speed of light.
